Instructions for Checkouts and Returns
Finding items in the Stockroom
All items in the stockroom have a warehouse and location (bin number) assigned to them. To find the location of a stocked item, the stockroom catalog can be searched here. Alternatively, there is a dedicated workstation available in the stockroom for doing searches.
Stock items are located in either the "Shop" or "Stockroom" warehouse.
Bin numbers for the "stockroom" warehouse are composed of three parts or segments. Each segment is separated by a dash "-".
The three segments are:
- Aisle – There are 7 aisles in the PSL stockroom: F, F, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
- Unit / cabinet – Most unit/cabinets are numbered with a sequential number. There are a few exceptions. SW = south wall, NW = north wall.
- Shelf – Shelving is labeled alphabetically top to bottom. The top of the unit is A, often A is unlabelled and used for storage.
Checkout
All stock items are labeled with a yellow six-digit part number, a one descriptor in capital letters, and a brief description to identify them. (Example: 073929 TAPE Masking 2"x180′)
When checking out items, record the six-digit number, descriptor, and description on the checkout slips provided on yellow clipboards scattered throughout the Stockroom. The date, your project number, and name are also required to correctly complete your check out. Please Print Clearly!
Returns
All items being returned are to be brought to the stockroom personnel for evaluation. (Do not return them directly to the shelf or bin, you will not receive credit)
If it is determined that the item is saleable stockroom personnel will issue a credit slip and restock the item. You will be charged a 15% restocking charge for all returns not determined to be defective.
If an item is determined to be not saleable it will be returned to the person requesting credit and is their responsibility to dispose the item.
