Stereotactic Radiotherapy Systems
PSL has designed and constructed several units of stereotactic radiotherapy hardware. The SRT hardware is designed for use with a Linac radiosurgery device for the treatment of cancer. Radiosurgery eliminates cancerous cells with a very focused high dose of radiation. It is less invasive than the surgical removal of tissue and patient recovery time is much faster. This technique has proven to be very effective in prolonging the lives of patients with brain tumors. The SRT hardware consists of collimating slugs and slug holder, film holder, three-axis phantom, and floor stand. Together they precisely position both the patient and the beam so that only the cancerous cells are exposed to radiation.
