LHC Discovers new kind of Matter

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), has discovered a new kind of matter called color-glass condensate. Using the Compact Muon Solenoid, researchers found the new matter is a “liquid-like wave of gluons”. (more…)

ARA Shipping to the Pole

PSL builds “Ozone Annihilator”

PSL recently built an ozone elimination chamber for UW Cytogenetic Services. This chamber is used to lower ozone levels which compromises the quality of fluorescent dyes on a microarray slide. (more…)

Building Cleaner and More Efficient Engines

The UW-Madison Engine Research Center (ERC) is developing cleaner and more fuel efficient diesel engines. The ERC designed a cylinder head which allows optical instruments to monitor the combustion process. (more…)

LHC Finds a New Particle

The Large Hadron Collider, using the Atlas and CMS detectors, has discovered a new particle that physicists say could be the Higgs Boson, the particle that gives all other particles mass.
